The above is a composed still using the post-processing materials I created for stylised rendering, along with hand-drawn 2D environment assets. All rendered and composited in Unreal Engine.
The Research & Development project posed the question of whether it was possible to translate the 2D visual language of Norman Thelwell into the 3D visual language of Unreal Engine.
Through iterative problem solving I explored the relationship between 2D and 3D visual languages through Hybrid Animation. Experimenting with UE as a tool to incorporate the intimacy and expressionism of Thelwell. Familiarising myself with the capabilities of UE and how to approach problem solving where there isn't a clear solution.
